SUMMARY:VLB online course: Brewing in a Nutshell (English)
DESCRIPTION:Course outlineThe online course provides detailed basic knowledge of beer brewing. It covers the general principals of the brewing and malting processes\, the raw materials and filling as well as packaging in theory. The course consists of eight thematic learning units made up of seven and a half hours of high-quality video lectures held by our VLB instructors. Ontop\, there are illustrated informative texts\, graphics\, additional material and more than 100 topic-related questions that the participant has to answer. The detailled content can be downloaded here with the course brochure. \n\n\n\nCourse conceptThe total study time takes about eight to nine hours. From the time of the first login at our e-learning plattform\, the participant has 3 weeks in total to work on all eight learning units. In this way\, each participant has the opportunity to determine his/her own learning times and speed. At the end of each subunit\, the learning progress is revised in the form of a small topic-related test. The tests consist of multiple or single choice questions\, drag & drop texts or open questions. The course is successfully completed\, when the participant has passed all learning modules. \n\n\n\nWho should attend?“Brewing in a Nutshell“ is aimed at people who do not need specific brewing training\, but who have to deal professionally with the product beer. This can include employees from sales\, marketing\, administration or others\, working at breweries\, maltings\, the supply industry or at associations\, who need to have general insight into the „secrets“ of beer brewing. But it is also suitable to provide a general overview of the complete process and technology of beer brewing. Please be aware that this course is not aimed at home brewers! Hands-on brewing or development of different kinds of beer styles are not part of this training. \n\n\n\nEvent-Website & Registration

SUMMARY:KIWI-biolab online-Seminar: IFDIFF - A Matlab Toolkit for ODEs with State-Dependent Switches
DESCRIPTION:In the frame of the KIWI-biolab\, Dr. Andreas Sommer will talk on Wednesday\, February 16\, 2022\, at 16:00 (CET) about “IFDIFF – A Matlab Toolkit for ODEs with State-Dependent Switches” (in English). \n\n\n\nDr. Sommer is a senior scientist at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University\, Germany. \n\n\n\nIn his talk\, he will cover some aspects for the numerical solution of and sensitivity generation in ODEs with state-dependent switches in the right-hand side. Dr. Sommer will give an introduction onto the solution methodology of switched (hybrid) ODEs and show pitfalls using naive numerical approaches. He will further present an automated programmatic tool extending the Matlab-internal integrators (ode45\, ode15s\, etc.) for integration and sensitivity generation of parameterized implicitly (state-dependent) switched ODEs whose right-hand side is given as Matlab program code containing non-differentiable („max“\, „min“\, etc.) and conditional („if“) operators. \n\n\n\nSimply join (for free) by using this Zoom-Link. No registration required.

SUMMARY:KNAUER auf dem IMPRESS Webinar: New High Value Plant-Based Products
\n\n\n\nAnmeldung

SUMMARY:ATB at the Seminar "Biotechnology applied to the plastics sector"
DESCRIPTION:The Seminar „Biotechnology applied to the plastics sector“ is organized as a streaming event. \n\n\n\nThe biotechnology industry is one of the fastest growing industries in recent years. Proof of this is that it covers more and more sectors\, including one with enormous growth potential: The plastics industry. In this sense\, the biotechnology industry proposes and presents innovative solutions that range from the recovery of both organic and synthetic waste to transform them into new sustainable raw materials\, promoting the implementation of the circular economy in its strictest sense. \n\n\n\nThe seminar will address the challenges and opportunities offered by biotechnology in the plastics sector in terms of waste management and treatment methods\, as well as trends and initiatives being implemented internationally to achieve the goals set by the European Union. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Joachim Venus from Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy will talk about „Bioprocesses for the production of bioplastic monomers“ on the 1st of March at 12:25 – 12:50 pm! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgrammePoster Submission (until 10.02.2022)Price ListRegistration
