SOPAT TECHNOLOGY

SOPAT provides an inline particle analysis system. The photo-optical approach enables real-time analysis of particle size and shape. With SOPAT you get:

  • a tool for in-line process optimization
  • a tool for in-line quality control
  • a complementary technique to existing off-line particle analysis (like wet sieving and laser diffraction)
  • extended depth of information, e.g. particle concentration, particle size distribution, color.

SOPAT PROBES

  • MM-2 Probe: The MM-2 Probe is a high-resolution monocular microscope for various applications in laboratory or production environments. The system can be used in-line or at-line and is operated in transmission lighting mode.
With its measurement range between 0.5 to 75 µm and the transmission lighting, the MM-2 system is most suitable for challenging measurement tasks such as biological samples, highly concentrated slurries, viscous emulsions, and many more. For the measurements, two different flow cells (MFC or MiFC) are available. The measurement takes place in an electronically adjustable gap.
  • VI Ma Probe: The Ma Probe is an achromatic in-line endoscope with a very narrow depth of field for various applications in laboratory or production environments.
This probe can be directly inserted into a running process to retrieve particle size and shape information via image analysis. The probe can be equipped with cooling and purging tubes to increase its applicability range. There are also numerous process connectors available, such as flanges, compression fittings, and the Knick Ceramat W155 retractable fitting.

COOPERATIONS

Automated Image Analysis of Droplets and Particles as a service

SOPAT offers an automated technique for the analysis of your particle images. Continue using your existing hardware but save valuable time and profit from using our precise image analysis services. Image analysis is effectively the most precise method of particle characterization.

As a direct result, imaging technology devices (microscopes, electron microscopes and camera-based systems) have become necessities in many laboratories and research institutes. The greatest disadvantage of these systems, however, is the significant personnel and time investments required for evaluating the acquired images. SOPAT makes it possible to automate this process. Via screenshots, we provide control and additionally you get a glance into the methodology of our algorithm.

The presentation of your results, including particle size distributions, are customized to fit your specific needs.

Potential Applications

Particles / cells in biological processes
Monitor your biological process by analyzing cell size, concentration, agglomerates, gas bubble size or surface area in real-time and in-situ.

Droplets
By implementing a quick and precise method for analyzing droplet size distribution, it is possible to reduce the amount of time necessary to launch your product into the market. This also makes it possible to quickly implement a variety of adjustment to your experiments, as the evaluation of the newly produced image data is just a click away.

Solid Particles
Electron micrographs can be quickly and simply analyzed by SOPAT. Determine the size, number and shape of your particles with utmost precision.

Bubble and Pore Analysis
Investigate the porosity or bubble size distribution in, for example, foams! SOPAT-IAS offers you numerous, practical applications in image analysis. Obtain precise results without the necessity of wasted, painstaking manual effort.
