From 9–10 July 2026, the 3rd BERLIN-BIOTECH Symposium brought together researchers, industry experts, and technology providers to discuss the latest developments in single-cell analytics and population heterogeneity in bioprocesses.

Bio-PAT e.V. was pleased to be a part of the symposium, hosted by BioProScale, which provided an excellent platform for exchange between academia and industry. The event focused on emerging technologies and approaches that enable a deeper understanding of cellular behavior and improve the monitoring and control of bioprocesses.

The symposium opened with a presentation by Bio-PAT board chair Prof. Dr. Peter Neubauer, setting the stage for two days of scientific exchange, inspiring presentations, poster sessions, exhibitions, and discussions.

Key topics of the symposium included:

  • Single-cell technologies for bioprocesses
  • Process analytical tools, image analysis, and data science
  • Population heterogeneity and co-cultivation systems
  • Practical workflows and applications for microbial bioprocesses

The program featured contributions from leading researchers, including Hyun-Dong Chang (DRFZ Berlin)Anna-Lena Heins (TU Hamburg), and Jean-Baptiste Lugagne (University of Oxford). Their presentations highlighted current advances in single-cell technologies and their potential for improving process understanding and bioprocess development.

Beyond the scientific presentations, the symposium provided valuable opportunities for networking and discussion through poster sessions, exhibitions, and informal exchanges between participants from different fields.

As Bio-PAT e.V., we are delighted to support initiatives that strengthen collaboration between research and industry and promote the development and application of innovative process analytical technologies.

We thank BioProScale for organizing the symposium and all speakers, contributors, and participants for the stimulating discussions and valuable insights.
