Bio-PAT e.V. at the 2nd Berlin-BioTECH Symposium

On 27 and 28 November, Bio-PAT e.V. participated in the 2nd Berlin-BioTECH Symposium, held at the Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei (VLB) in Berlin, a valued network member. The event was jointly organized by BioProScale and KIWI Biolab, in cooperation with TU Berlin Institute of Biotechnology, as well as Bio-PAT, and sponsored by DATAHOW.

Under the theme “Autonomous Discovery in Bio- & Chemical Engineering”,  the symposium brought together researchers to discuss the transformative potential of cognitive systems in revolutionizing bioprocess and chemical engineering. Attendees explored both recent achievements and future trends in automation, machine learning, high-throughput process development, and chemical and bioprocess engineering.

The symposium sessions included discussions on:

  • Computer-assisted experimental design and operation of experimental systems
  • Machine learning applications in screening, process design, control, and optimization
  • Methods for Bayesian optimization and experimental design
  • Reinforcement learning for cognitive task automation
  • Knowledge graph and ontological semantic models
  • ML and robotics for scale-up and scale-down applications
  • Natural language processing in digital discovery
  • AI-readiness and FAIRness of experimental data
  • Blockchain technology for reproducible research

You can find the full program here.

The 2nd Berlin-BioTECH Symposium demonstrated the exciting ways AI, machine learning, and automation are reshaping bioprocess and chemical engineering. Bio-PAT looks forward to continuing to contribute to these advancements.
