BlueSens re-certified with „ÖKOPROFIT“

BlueSens has been re-certified with the „ÖKOPROFIT“ environmental certificate. Mayor Matthias Müller personally presented the certificate to the Managing Director Dr. Udo Schmale in Herten-Disteln.

„BlueSens has long been committed to the sustainability of the company. I am therefore particularly pleased that the renewed ÖKOPROFIT® award goes exactly in the direction of consolidating the strate-gy and measures for more sustainability. My warmest congratulations,“ said Mayor Matthias Müller, who also conveyed the congratulations of District Administrator Bodo Klimpel.
During the recertification process, the focus was primarily on measures closely related to the new building: the existing building was given an extension with a green roof and a PV system. In addition, light-colored roofing felt on the existing buildings will reduce heat build-up. Biodiversity measures will be increasingly tackled after the conversion. „It is important to us that the entire team lives the idea of sustainability. That’s why we want to create and design raised beds as a team in the spring, for exam-ple. We also offer our employees a job bike and take part in city cycling every year,“ says Udo Schmale, looking ahead to upcoming activities. Overall, the business model since ÖKOPROFT® is also viewed holistically through the „sustainability lens“. For example, the company has introduced the re-use principle for the stainless steel components of its sensors. Old sensors are collected from customers and the stainless steel parts can be reused to build new sensors.

BlueSens is firmly established on the market as a sensor specialist for waste gas analysis in the field of bioprocess technology with more than fifty employees. BlueSens is an active ÖKOPROFIT® Club member and has also participated in the Klimaprofit program (climate impact and adaptation to climate change).
„Ökoprofit® makes it possible to analyze the topic of sustainability in the company in a structured way and to develop appropriate measures,“ Schmale recommends participation to other companies. The next round of the project will start shortly. Interested companies can still register. Information on the project can be found on the Recklinghausen district homepage
The ÖKOPROFIT® project is run by the district of Recklinghausen together with the towns of Herten, Datteln, Dorsten, Haltern am See, Marl, Oer-Erkenschwick, Recklinghausen and Waltrop. Interested companies are also welcome to contact Frauke Wiering from the Herten Economic Development Agen-cy directly on 02366 303-617.
