PAT biotech applications in the media: CELLtainer bioreactor featured in DIE ZEIT

The bioreactor developed by Bio-PAT member Celltainer Biosolutions GmbH is featured in the 06/2026 issue of DIE ZEIT. The long-form article, titled “The Farm as a Laboratory,” follows a Dutch farmer working on the production of cultivated meat and highlights a key application of this forward-looking technology.

Celltainer’s bioreactor technology is based on wave-induced mixing for efficient mass transfer. It was jointly developed and successfully scaled in collaboration with scientists from the Bioprocess Engineering Laboratory at the Technical University of Berlin. Pictured alongside the bioreactor used at Bioprocess Engineering-TU Berlin is Bio-PAT’s Board Chair, Professor Peter Neubauer.

Celltainer’s recent acquisition by BIONET further underscores the growing importance of innovative mass transfer principles, particularly in the field of single-use systems and biobased food production.
