BioProScale e.V. is a non-profit association dedicated to promote science, academia and research by linking competencies between industry and scientific institutions in the field of biotechnology.
In accordance with its aim, BioProScale e.V. offers recurrent scholarships to early-stage scientists (Master students, PhD students, Postdocs (maximum 7 years after receiving their PhD)) to support research stays in foreign laboratories.
Requirements:
- The project must be from the field of microbial biotechnology, primarily in the areas of Pharma, Chemicals, Food or Feed and fit into one of the following topics:
- Scale-up or scale-down of bioprocesses
- Bioprocess development
- Bioprocess monitoring and / or optimization
- Bioreactor construction
- Development of a more sustainable bio-based economy
- Work plan including methodology and risk mitigation
- Letter of recommendation from the receiving institution with clear statement to access to relevant infra structure
- Reasonable cost calculation (travel expenses, accommodation, …)
Details on scholarships:
- All applications are evaluated by the BioProScale e.V. board. Scholarships are awarded according to this evaluation.
- There is generally no legal entitlement to funding. The provisions on non-profit funding of general scientific work in the Federal Republic of Germany continue to apply.
- The maximum amount of funding is 5000,-€. BioProScale e.V. reserves the right to reduce the requested funds.
- Consumables or devices are not part of the scholarships and have to be financed by the receiving institution.
- Host and present institution must be different. The scholarship cannot be used to extend a current position.
- The application deadline for the next scholarship award is 15.12.2024. Please send the completed form including all requirements as a single pdf-file to: bioproscale@outlook.de
- Payment modality: 2/3 upfront payment, 1/3 after the stay after submission and acceptance of a short scientific report.
- Insurances (e.g. health, work, etc.) are not covered by the scholarship.
Evaluation criteria of applications:
- Relevance and novelty of the research project
- Advantage of the planned research visit to the research project and personal career development
- Feasibility of cost plan
- Work plan structure and coherence
Scientific report:
- Must include aim, methods, results, and benefits / outlook of the conducted project.
- Should explain the integration of the gained experiences in the further personal development.
- 2 pages DIN A4, Arial 10, line spacing 1.5
- Must be submitted latest 2 months after return.
